Are there postings and comments missing from the blog? What happened?
they are manging the blog in a strange way.. if comments are not encouraged or need to be screened you should change your setting to require approval before comments are posted...
It appears that they had the good sense to remove the postings that were inappropriate. Just because its cyberspace doesn't give you license to be rude.

i echo your sentiments Maya.. i moved into sobu in 2000 and was so impressed with the styling, location and all the great people i had to hang out with. The very first night there was a party on the roof, what a way to start.
Then i got married, had my first daughter who we had to retrofit a closet as her nursery.
We quickly out grew the space and had no choice but to leave in 2003 and accept the fact then i would have to show up on closing day with 20 - 30k. Even after accepting that harsh reality we never got offers that were even reasonable because all the forclosures really messed up the building.
While the foreclosures may look like an opportunity for some, i saw them as the same people i enjoyed hanging out with that had no other choice.
So now, one more kid and relocation to colorado i am still sitting on a piece of property that i can not even rent and when i am in town dont even want to stay at becuase it is not the same place i bought almost 8 years ago.
I am totally perplexed and have no idea on how to persuade those who can not see the value in the deal that is presented. Hopefully the will come around, me and my girls college education are banking on it..
fingers crossed..

To the person/people who may be holding out on the assemblage of the condo:
My husband has lived here for 6 years, over which the price of the units at Sobu Flats has steadily decreased. I remember when I first came to visit him, how nicely the condo looked, having been newly renovated. Unfortunately, because of the decrease of value, the illegal renting that has taken place, and the increased cost of so many amenities, Sobu has lost its sparkle. I don’t have to say it – you can see it by looking around. Just take a look at the now defunct cyber center, the stained carpet, and the lack of security.
Over the past few years, our lives have changed, as well as our needs. Unfortunately, we have been obliged to stay right where we are, for fear of losing too much money, and selling far under what he paid for this condo.
I am sure that I am not the only one who would like to move, for whatever reason. There are people in this building who would probably like to be closer to where they work, closer to a beloved family member, or perhaps start a family for the first time. But like me, they are, well, stuck….
Please consider the many lives that you are affecting by being so selfish. Admittedly, I have my own reasons for wanting to move from Sobu; however, the assemblage would better serve over 130 residents. I would love to meet with you sometime, perhaps over dinner this week to impress upon you how beneficial it would be if you would sign the contract. This would benefit not just yourself (you could get this declining property off your hands), but several people around you.
I have been praying daily for God’s will to be done in the sale of this condo. I know that there is a purpose and a plan for this building, and for every life within it. I know that He knows the way that this will all pan out, and it will be for the best.
But please, I ask you to consider the many people that your decisions are affecting, and really think it through. And yes, if after that, in your very heart of hearts, you believe that you are making the best decision, then so be it. But I implore you, PLEASE make an effort to consider others in your decision. And please at least express to us what the problem is. We are your neighbors, not your enemies
I thought they all had agreed to sign!?!
The holdout(s) think they are smart, because they are taking part in a course of action for which we all considered, but were not selfish enough to follow through with. I guess winning at the expense of others doesn't sit well with me. Why can't we all win equally??
"If all the people in this world, in which we live, were as selfish as a few of the people in this world, in which we live, there would be no world in which to live." W.L. Ormes
let's pray and have faith..there is nothing impossible for God, if we ask him with all our hearth, he will listen. Let's ask him for his mercy..
one of the holdouts, owns the unit 808. He think that his unit will worth a lot, a lot money in 5 years..My husband will talk with him and show him that the price is going down and not up..wish us luck..
I heard from a holdout yesterday who has no intention of signing because they think they can get more money...Its time to call a meeting with these people and offer them more money or they will not sign period..we have 10 days, can we at least have an internal meeting and figure how much money we can cough up from our own profits to offer these people?
Its worth a shot.
I too have been here for 7 years and have seen this building go to hell with no hope in sight. I feel if we dont get this deal then this building has a very grim future. If they build condos across the street that will totally destroy our asking price for ours because we will be the neighborhood ghetto (well i guess we already are). Either we sell this building together as one or no one will get any money out of their unit.
Its time to have a meeting and see how much we can offer these hold outs out of our pockets to sign? Seems to be all about money so lets give them what they want to push things forward. I am willing to cough up a couple of grand to get contracts signed....
I don't understand how the holdout(s)think that this property is going to be worth more in 5 years. Who would buy here when they can buy at Paces 325 on the corner which is a newer building and the prices there start at $190k. If you want to see value you should buy there and YES your property will most likely be worth $500k in the next 5 years when Buckhead become Manhattan. But to think a 1952 year old building is going to be worth that is crazy. The holdouts should see that they are going to be putting at least $20k back in this property in it!
I heard it was the girls in #606 that were holding out! They deserve to be thanked for all the stress they are causing the other people in the building. And they should know what a great pleasure it is going to be to LIVE everyone that they totally screwed OVER. Come girls reason up, BE SMARTER THAN A 5th GRADER!!! Move across the street for low now where they are offering awesome deals and you WILL see your value rise like you want in the next 5 years!!
this blog is crap.
it has accomplished nothing but hysteria among the residents.
nothing is happening with the building and all this does is extend the lie and hope that we will one day get out of this hell hole.
joe, sorry you feel this way about an open dialog amongst people who all share a common invesment. I am also sorry for your negative point of view. personally the blog has been a great way to get a pulse of what is actually taking place, and in my almost 8 years of onwership i have not had this much transparency into the issues and opinions of the community. i do hope you are wrong in your assesment...
oh no i think the concept of a blog is a wonderful idea. just not this one. it quickly went from an update center for the sale status of our building to a prayer center.
clearly a joke and a place for people to waste time while at work.
