I posted this over on the other blog, but just incase you are only following this one... as homeowners, we all need to get involved with our NPU (neighborhood planning unit). It meets the first tuesday of every month at the Cathedral of Christ the King
2699 Peachtree Road at 7 pm. You can sign up for email at http://www.atlantaga.gov/government/planning/npu_system.aspx we are in neighborhood B.

To have voting rights you must attend 4 meetings. This may be helpful in getting Cartel the zoning it needs to continue with his project.

This is a very good point. I am a civil engineer, and I have rezoned a number of properties in the City of Atlanta. The NPUs have a lot of power and their votes go a long way in determining the way rezonings go.

I emailed a NPU member Jeff Shell and this ws his response:

Thank you for your interest in the NPU process. All of our board meetings are open to the public, and our next board meeting is on 10/7 at 7:00 PM. All of our meetings are held at Christ the King. Each NPU has their own bylaws and procedures. For NPU-B, only board members may vote. We have a total of 24 board members, 12 residential and 12 business representatives. Each of the 12 neighborhood civic associations recognized by the City of Atlanta has an appointed seat to the NPU. How each neighborhood selects their representation will vary by neighborhood. The 12 business reps are selected by general election each fall for the following year. To qualify, you must live in the City and work within the NPU. You must present a business license and proof of address.

Are we going to get any updates in terms of the final dates regarding the 90/60 day windows for "free-look" and filing for zoning?
