Sobu Message 9/3

A Sobu owner (who is totally signed up and on board) asked me today if this Friday deadline was a bluff (hoping it was).

My response to him was this:
Actually – it is not a bluff. Josh and I had a month long period in our heads to be honest. However; Taylor made it very clear to Josh yesterday that the buyer is not going along for a ride on this. He has been in this biz for a very, very long time. He has seen assemblage bust after assemblage bust. There is always one greedy and irrational person in the end who ruins the deal for everyone. This buyer is not going to continue to put time and money into Sobu if we do not have everyone on board. Keep in mind – we first pitched this to him last year. At that time – he asked us – "Do you have everyone signed up?" We had to answer "No". One year later, and our answer remains the same. If all owners were totally for this sale we would be locked up. People would be beating our doors down to take 60 seconds out of their day to sign one amendment that actually makes the deal better for them.

So – the long answer to the question is that this Friday is NOT a bluff.

I hope for everyone’s sake that we can pull this together…and it is looking like we can and will. The faxes have been coming in all day and Josh was at Sobu tonight speaking with owners and getting more signed amendments. This is an incredible deal…and I will keep you posted!

Thanks to everyone for their hard work, and thanks to the few remaining owners who will be signing by Friday at 5pm. For those of us who have owned for a long time, while we'll always have a soft spot for Sobu in our hearts, we know the truth...this property is worth more as a whole than it is as individual units. Our tax values keep declining and we don't have any of the original amenities. This deal is our chance to restore our accounts, pay off our debts, and start a new chapter in our lives.

Please sign your amendments, so we can move ahead with this very important sale. Selling now is a gift...not selling could cause more foreclosures and risk everyone's financial stability.
