Hello,
I am a Sobu homeowner and I have some concerns with the living status at Sobu. The fact that I have to write in a comment box of a blog because EVERY phone number posted on the wall by the mailboxes are ALL disconnected is really disturbing.
Where is the security guard? Why is the gate broken frequently, and normally this wouldn't upset me as much, but when you DON'T have a security guard, and all the numbers are disconnected, WHO DO I CALL TO GET MY CAR INTO THE PARKING LOT?
I have had three occasions in the last week of people parking in my spot and I had to get them towed.
There are people parking in the handicapped spot that are not handicapped. There are people who are parked in the handicapped spot that park there because someone else is parked in their spot.
Where is the fucking security guard?
I understand that the condo is sold, but people still live here, and I'm still paying HOA! Why should I pay all this money if I don't have a security guard.
The gym.
It is disgusting. Since the talk of selling Sobu, the cleanliness of the entire place has gone downhill. Where are the wipes in the gym? people are still using the equipment and sweating all over it, then walking out. There are bugs crawling all over the ground in the gym. Not to mention all over on every hallway floor.
There are people doing construction work in their condos all the way until 9 pm. There is dog piss on the elevator floors. There are beer cans left in hallways. There is some asshole that doesn't live here, bringing his motorcycle in the parking lot and making the most awful noise all day long.
what the fuck is going on?
who can i contact? chris tilly? is phone is off. stacie jewel? does she still manage?
what do we do when the gate is broken again.
why should I pay all this money towards HOA when nothing is done?
Please put aside your hunger for money and big commission on this deal and do your job. I am going to take it into my hands to put a letter out to every owner to contact anyone who is suppose to be in charge and explain to them what they are unsatisfied about with Sobu. Also, I will be calling health inspection to explain how unsanitary Sobu flats has gotten.

How long have you lived at Sobu?Because we've never had the capability of calling someone to open the gate . .if you'd been at any of the HOA meetings recently you'd know that WE- the homeowners - opted not to employ a "security" gaurd who basically just sat there and surfed the internet. You'd also know that if the gate is broken - you park your car elsewhere and use the front door like everyone else. If you are so concerned about Sobu - PLEASE get on the board and help out in a positive way. None of us wants to pour our hard earned money into a building that we won't be in for much longer. If the sale doesn't go through - then, obviously we'll revisit and prioritize what needs to get done to improve the building. In the mean time - buy yourself some hand-wipes, add the tow-truck number to your address book and keep your fingers crossed this sale goes through.
First, the condo isn't sold yet, and we're all supposed to be carrying on business as usual.
Second, the homeowners have not voted through any assessments that would help the state of the building. The bylaws state that we have to have a quorum (majority) of homeowners vote yes for a special assessment, but we have NEVER had a quorum, ever....
Third, due to the age of the building, the promises made by the original developer that didn't happen, repairs that have been needed, and mismanagement on painting the building (IMHO), along with no special assessments, the building cannot afford the concierge we started with OR even a security guard, which we reduced the hours of.
Fourth, the board has worked tirelessly, but without the cooperation of homeowners, the building is not currently set up to increase in value. Selling the building is our best way out of this money pit. Most of the owners who have owned since the beginning will break even or make a small amount of money on the sale of the building. Yes, there are a few greedy people out there, but that is not why we're selling. The building is not currently set up to compete on price, it doesn't have the reserves needed to improve, and we just need to keep it going.
If you really care, volunteer for a committee, figure out how to raise some money, hire a security guard, vote for the special assessment and get your neighbors to vote for it. The board is always looking for someone willing to work for free, listen to complaints, and be willing to take action.
In the meantime, do your part by being a good neighbor and set a positive example. Heck, buy a box of wipes, put a nice sign on them, and put it in the gym. Make your home a little better by doing something instead of complaining. Take the lead...get a group of volunteers to do some things around the building...
Are we going to get an update on the status with Cartel? Even a short, concise statement to let the homeowners know the status would be helpful and would alleviate the view that we have no method to garner information.
It does not take an inordinate amount of time to post an update.
Thank you.
